Thomas J. Tyson, Partner/ President
Tom started in the insurance business after graduating from Moravian College. Following brief tenures with AT&T and Prudential, Tom launched Coastal Financial Group in 1991. At that time Coastal was mainly focusing on the areas of employment benefits, pensions and investments. In 1994, when health reform was enacted, Mr. Tyson saw an exciting opportunity to grow the agency into a full service employee benefits firm. Through the development of strong partnerships with major health insurance carriers including, Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey, Oxford, Cigna, and Guardian, Mr. Tyson has earned a stellar reputation and is one of the most sought after corporate benefits specialists in the country. Tom is always recognized for his unique ability to “think outside of the box” and several groups have utilized his knowledge and talents by appointing him to their Board of Directors, including; Piccatinny Federal Credit Union, the Wilson School and several others. He is a past honoree of the NJBiz’s ‘40 under 40’, has received numerous awards from Morris County, the State of New Jersey and is continually recognized for his dedication and continued success within the Insurance Industry.

Ratchanee Benson, Partner –Ratchanee's initial contribution as founding partner to Coastal Financial Group was her eminent passion and determination to serve and protect others in delicate and important life decisions. With inspiration in her blood, Ratchanee came to the United States from Thailand as a teenager and built her success from sheer determination. Her strong athletic and creative talents won her not one but TWO full scholarships for volley ball AND art at University of Kentucky and Ocean County College. As her leadership ability became more apparent, Ratchanee went on to develop a successful career in real estate. Eventually, she felt the need to contribute more to others, so she transferred her skills, passion and talents to partner with Tom Tyson and create an empire at Coastal Financial Group. Starting at ground level, Ratchanee became the heart of the company by supporting and guiding the team, brokers and clients with security, high values and unsurpassed service. Today Ratchanee is dedicated to enabling the entire service process at Coastal Financial Group to be more comprehensive, efficient and compatible for all.

Jack Mecca, Partner – Jack decided to venture into the insurance industry almost 25 years ago, after a successful career as a world renowned photographer. His insurance path began with Prudential, where his skills and abilities were recognized immediately. After consistently making the Presidents Club, Jack was promoted to a manager’s position which allowed him to hone his sales and marking skills, expand his insurance industry knowledge and develop his professional network. In 1994, he joined Coastal Financial Group and through his continued focus on building a top-ranked professional sales team and his persistent focus on cross selling through marketing strategies, Jack was elevated to Partner. Throughout the years, Jack has solidified Coastal Financial Group’s business base, by creating strong network relationships between brokers, producers, customers and the insurance providers. His photography work can be seen worldwide and has been featured in several books, magazines and extensively displayed in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto Canada.
