Coastal Financial Group was founded in 1991 by Thomas J. Tyson, focusing mainly in the areas of employment benefits, pensions and investments. In 1994, when health reform was enacted, Mr. Tyson saw an exciting opportunity to grow the agency into a full service employee benefits firm. Through the development of partnerships with major health insurance carriers, Coastal Financial Group has developed a unique insight, creating a distinct advantage in the employee benefits industry. Coastal Financial Group services over 2,500 small and mid-sized groups as their current client base and since the small group health market rates are regulated by the State of New Jersey; service is the only variable and has become the key to Coastal Financial Group’s success. Our in-house service department is consistently considered one of the best in the industry and has been recognized numerous times by Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey for the “Trifecta Award” which is awarded for consistently meeting or exceeding the established goals, development of new business and providing superior service. Coastal Financial Group’s amazing team of insurance professionals brings over 200 years of insurance industry experience, including several key people who have worked for major carriers as senior managers, underwriters and actuaries.
